1. Basset hound

Want a low - maintenance dog? Well, a Basset hound may just be the one for you. They calm and patient with children and they are also lazy. Basset hound are prone to obesity

That need to be taken walks and they do need attention and company with a human or else if you are very busy you can get two of them. As they breed to live in pack they will hate to be left aloe for long time and may keep barking which may cause disturbance to others and may became destructive. Generally the price of a Basset Hound in India would give or take ₹30,000. The range often goes up to ₹35,000 as well.

Height - Male - 30–38 cm (12–15 in).

Female - 28–36 cm (11–14 in).

Weight - Male - 25–34 kg (55–75 lb).

Female - 20–29 kg (45–65 lb).

Coat - Smooth, short and close.

Colour - Generally black, white and tan (tri-colour) or tan/lemon and white (bi-colour); but any recognised hound colour acceptable.

Litter size - 6–8 puppies.

Life span - Median 10–12 years.

2. Beagle

Beagle is another option of a gentle and patient character. The Only Difference between Basset hound and Beagles is that Basset hound are lazy and Beagles are super active. A Beagles character is "merry", "friendly" and "curious". “Beagles are loving and lovable, happy, easy-going, and companionable.” They are small dogs who a lot of exercise. Beagle are breed to live as packs that's why they need a lot of attention and will not make it without attention. If you live in a medium sized house that's enough for this dog to run around and play. If you are a person who works 9 to 5 then its recommended to get 2 of them. Another dog breed to consider if you want a friendly pup? The bichon frisé. This small dog is a great companion. Bichon frisé is a happy and curious dog breed. 4. Border terrier

The character of a Border terrier is “plucky,” “happy,” and “affectionate.” This dog has a moderate energy level but a more laid-back personality than many other terriers. Border terrier are outdoor dogs that are bred to live in the country - side. Border terrier can adapt to the city life as long as they get plenty of exercise. Border terrier can live and love other dogs but not squirrels and cats. They are good guard dogs. Border terrier are easy to train and learn easily. Bulldogs don't bark as much as other breeds but make some adorable noise (though they make up for it with adorable snorting, grunting, and snoring). 7. Chihuahua

When you think Chihuahua, you might envision a yappy little dog. But it’s only poorly trained dogs who have earned the breed that reputation. According to the AKC, “Inside each little Chihuahua is a miniature king or queen ready to rule their realms, so they need to be taught what is acceptable in human kingdoms.”

Nonetheless, this dog breed is intelligent, enthusiastic, trainable, and generally low-maintenance despite their regal attitude. Chihuahuas can do well in families, particularly if the children in the household are gentle and patient with their dog.

Because they’re so small, Chihuahuas require little exercise. That means they adapt well to life in cities, but the breed is hardy enough to enjoy life in rural setting, as well. (Just watch out for cold temperatures to which the Chihuahua can be sensitive.) Plus, many Chihuahuas get along with other pets, especially companions of their own breed.
